In 1993, Dr. Chavez was honored to be one of the founding faculty members of the Rush-Illinois Masonic Family Practice Residency. During this time, he developed several programs including the Sports Medicine Curricula and the three-year Procedures Curriculum, both of which were very well received. Dr. Chavez went on to author two Office Surgery chapters in Rakel’s Textbook of Family Medicine. These curricula and publications were important in attracting post graduates to the program and helped open the door to other academic engagements.
While he continued to enjoy teaching, precepting and mentoring, Dr. Chavez was also eager to move in a different direction. In 2010, he founded M. Chavez, MD, SC whose sole purpose was to offer complete, authentic, evidence based care with excellent customer service. The focus would be on preventive health, procedural medicine and in the diagnoses and management of dermatological and musculoskeletal conditions including their rehabilitation. Today, each member of the staff at M. Chavez, MD, SC embodies a similar philosophy of compassionate, quality care. The clinic is proud to offer patients a variety of services and is committed to every patient’s individual needs.
